So what is brand? Brand is basically a type of product by a particular company under a particular name. A brand is a name , term , design ,  symbol or any other feature that identifies one seller’s goods or service as distinct from those of other. The practice of branding was started with the ancient Egyptians , who were known to have engaged in livestock branding as early as 2700 BCE . Branding was used to differentiate one person’s cattle from another’s by means of a distinctive symbol burned into the animal’s  skin with a hot branding iron . Then there are many types of brand of which some are well known , well established while some are not so .

The symbol of brands also represents something here I give a few examples of it :-

  1. The U OF Unilever is filled with variety of random images but every single image depicts the range of products Unilever manufactures .
  2. The three strips of Adidas logo represents a mountain , pointing out towards challenges and goals people need to over come . The full form of Adidas is Adolf Adi Dassler .
  3. In Greek mythology ,Nike is the Winged Goddess of Victory . The logo is derived from goddess ‘wing’,’swoosh’, which symbolizes the sound of speed , movement , power and motivation.
  4. The Puma logo has an image of a leaping Puma , which is also called a cougar , a panther that is active both day and night and can jump upto 20 feet high by using this symbol Puma summarizes the feature of its product.
  5. BMW or Bayerische Motoren Wreke or Bavarian Motor Works dates back to 1917. It emerged from a renaming of the aircraft engine manufacturer Rapp Motorenwreke located in Munich capital state of Bavaria southern Germany. The blue and white coloured quadrant symbolizes the free state of Bavaria.
  6. The emblem of Audi has four rings which symbolizes the amalgamation of four motor vehicles manufacturer : Audi , DKW , Horch and Wanderer.
  7. The Amazon logo the arrow at the bottom seems like a smiley which shows the range of products available that is from a to z .
  8. The H in Hyundai represents a silhouette of two individuals shaking hands which symbolizes the good relationship between the seller and the customer .
  9. ROLEX is a Swiss luxury watch maker and the word Rolex comes from a French phrase horlogerie exquise meaning ‘hoROLogical EXellence”.
  10. The ‘3M’ company which produces good from medical and office supplies to electronic circuitry, was formerly known as ‘The Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing company’ later changed to ‘3M’ .

People purchase a good on seeing upon its brand the reason behind is that a brand is not just only a name but a symbol of surety and trust that a customer can have upon on that company . Branding a product means giving it license to capture the market and the hearts of many people and it also allows the seller to hike the price , for example we all use a pen in our daily life there are some pens costing Rs 2 to Rs 20 but there are pens that cost even few lakhs like Montblanc , S.T Dupont , Caran D’Ache .This clearly shows the power of branding .
