Essay, an analytic, interpretative, or critical literary composition usually much shorter and less systematic and formal than a dissertation or thesis and usually dealing with its subject from a limited and often personal point of view.

INSTRUCTIONS (ESSAY COMPETITION)

The contestants shall be given 1hour 30 minutes to develop the composition. Word limit: 300 words. Content (Relevance to the theme, Comprehensiveness, Originality, Insights, Mechanics). Relevance to the theme – connection, significance of the issue being discussed, can add references. Comprehensiveness – how complete and detailed the writer’s exposition of the topic. Originality – uniqueness, novelty, and authenticity of ideas. Insights – a fresh way of looking at things, critical view of the subject. Mechanics - the correct use of punctuation, capitalization, and grammar. No printed materials, electronic gadgets, or storage devices shall be utilized.
